iOS4 problem

July 08, 2010 at 04:44 PM posted in General DiscussionHello fellow poddies,
I'm having a bit of trouble with the Chinese Pod mobile app, it doesn't seem to get along with the new iOS4. Every time I try to update my lessons the program quits...Does anyone else have this problem? I don't know if it is possible to revert to the older OS? Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I tried a search before posting. :-)
Thanks!

Hello, Since I have updated my iphone to os4, the chinesepod app doesn't run anymore. ;(
Are you working on it cause this app is my daily way to learn chinese and it's really a pain ? ...

I am just using ChinesePod, the full site in Safari on mine although you have to zoom and scroll about a lot. Having seen your comments, the ChinesePod application just crashes.

Hello everyone, and apologies for not responding to this thread earlier. The ChinesePod (and EnglishPod) app's login functionality is indeed broken in iOS4, and we have a fix meandering its way through Apple's approval process now. I suspect it will be another week or so before it is approved, but we're hoping for sooner rather than later. When it is approved I'll update this thread (and of course you'll see it as an available update on your device).
Very sorry for all this, and I hope we'll be able to get it sorted soon.

Now that we all know that we are not alone. I wonder who we can escalate this matter to. The I-pod feature is such a great idea, its a shame not to be able to take advantage of it... , Laohuang

There is an e-mail address in the iphone app where you can send suggestions. I'll suggest they make it compatible with the latest os, otherwise a premium sub is pointless for me. Paying for mobile features, my main way of studying, that I cannot use feels a bit wrong...

Well no solution in sight it seems, but thanks for your comments. At least it is some comfort that I'm not the only one with these issues so hopefully there will be a fix out some time soon.

Well, I don't know about the refresh button, but if I mark a lesson as studied it will add a lesson to the list to replace it.

I'm still on the old iPhone OS, but the refresh button has never worked for me. The only way I can refresh my lessons list is by logging out and logging back in.

FWIW, I'm having the same problem. Has anyone tried logging out, then logging back in again?

I too am having problems with iOS4. When I try to log in, I get an error message saying
Network Status
Cannot connect to ChinesePod
server. Please try again later
OK
I get this regardless if I am connected to WiFi or working off the cell phone network.
I am able to access the 3 free lessons with no problem, but will not let me log in.
I just installed the iPhone App about a week ago and have been unsuccessful at getting it to work.
Any insight of how to get it working would be appreciated!
Thanks!

By update, do you mean bring them up on the lesson list screen or download them to your phone?
Mine seems to be working ok on iOS4.
