My guess is it's because most Chinese have either 1) never had turkey or 2) have had poorly prepared turkey. Turkey is really easy to mess up and make really dry, and nobody likes that :).

Was it from China Unicom, or 水货? Most of the latter are from HK or Singapore, where they are sim-free. Phones bought from Unicom, though, are locked to Unicom, AFAIK.

I don't know how to say clip-on, but as for the "ready yet" question, I'd just say "我的眼镜好了吗?"

I agree. There are far worse things than good 白酒 (cheap 白酒 immediately comes to mind).

A bit of trivia that we discovered through perilous and demanding research my first few years in China, is that absolutely nothing cuts 白酒. No matter what you mix it with, it still really really tastes like 白酒.

Amazing stuff.

Yup, relocation would almost certainly be necessary. There are worse places on Earth than Shanghai, though :)

I know I joke about it being depressing, but it's not really depressing as much as touching on difficult topics which, while perhaps not what we wish to face every day, are important parts of life.
