The Replies to Me tab

June 10, 2010 at 06:43 AM posted in General DiscussionIf I comment on my own post it still appears under the 'Replies to Me' tab. It shouldn't do this - technically you could say that I am 'replying' to myself but I am in fact making a comment. 'Replies to me' should include just those comments created by someone clicking the 'Replies' link under the comment of another poddie.

Hi Zhenlijiang - thanks, what a great word!
Yes, it's nice to have an appreciative audience isn't it? :)

But also if I 'reply' to me, actually if I just make a new comment in the thread, (yep, it happens), it also appears in Replies to Me. I don't want that.

Not really Bodawei. If I start a post--an open question--and someone comes to comment on it I consider that a Reply to Me and would like to know about it.

Me too - we are saying the same thing. I would like to know if someone comes to comment on my post. But at the moment, if I add to the post by commenting, that also comes back to me as a 'Replies to Me', as soon as I make the comment. It is redundant - I know I just made the comment; I even remember most of what I said. :)

June 10, 2010 at 07:03 AMComments (from yourself or others) on a thread you have started are considered "replies" to you. Perhaps you take semantic issue with this designation?
The purpose of this is to make sure users are aware of conversations happening in conversations they themselves started.
Of course, if a user, "Bill," replies to user "Ted" in a thread that you, Bodawei, started, then you will not see that in your "replies to me". Instead, Ted will see Bill's reply to him.
If you, bodawei, reply to someone else in a thread you started (let's say, for example, you reply to me after I add this comment) then I will see that in my "replies to me," and you will not.
