Learning Cantonese would also be something of interesţ in some ways Cantonese is more lively than Mandarin especially all the slang! Pretty interesting stuff! (okay Auntie Sue I'll take my payment in the form on a check!)

I think JapanesePod works better then Japanesesensensense. ;)

There are some real gems over there, even if you're not learning Japanese. This one has been sitting there for a fair while but I keep returning to it, because it so well illustrates some important points about learning any language.

Shhhh! Don't say that so loud! Can't you at least pretend? Huh? Aww, gee, Bazza. No matter, take the summer off, work hard on your Mandarin and it's sure to help your Cantonese. You'll be back. Won't you? DON'T ANSWER THAT. :-) We'll wait for you anyhow.

I've kinda lost interest in Cantonese for the time being.

Ah, I see my minions are already waving the flag for Cantonese. :) Well done!

To my mind (and I don't give two hoots what Praxis thinks!) there are two ways we can speed up Cantonese (or any other wanted language) becoming a business option that they cannot afford to ignore.

1. Bring all of your mates, your grandmother, and your pet dog if necessary, over the forum at cantonese.chinesepod.com and whip up a storm, and keep it up. (or whichever language Praxis forum suits you)

2. Support the new languages that are coming out, Spanish and now Japanese. Get all of your friends to give these languages a try if they don't already learn Chinese. Tell them to be active in the comments and the forums, and show praxis that we love it when they add more languages!

So if you really want to make Cantonese irresistible to Praxis, we can do it! Today's task is to get over to the Spanish and Japanese sites and show their newcomers what a fun way this is to learn. We'll only get what we want via their success, so GO! GO! GO! :-)

John and John (B)

Do you have any plans in the future to expand Japanese Sense to be somewhat like Japanesepod101?

Like I said, I'd like a refresher course in Japanese, but if I'm going to sign up and pay I'd rather keep it in the Praxis family if possible.

You could actually post in japanese anywhere on this site, and might get a response.

Only if it was to do with Chinese learning of course.

xiaohu,

This is kind of a crazy idea, but maybe you could try having a Japanese conversation on the JapaneseSense forum...??

Xiaohu, perhaps the Japanesesense.com forums would be the best place for conversations in Japanese... post something, and you'll probably get some replies.

Anyone here still interested in learning Japanese ? I too would like a referesher course. Back in the day when I was learning I could write every Hiragana and Katakana by hand.

Kennyk do you remember your Hiragana and katakana?

Could you write as well as read?

Aaahhh, very smart! Get the community and interest built up through the forums, THEN when you have built in potential users and search engine placement for the subjects then springboard into a full site which can immediately become a new cash cow! VERY INGENIOUS!

@italiana, yes, JapaneseSense is part of Praxis (hence the little Praxis guy in the logo). It's part of an effort that we're making to build communities of language learners, even in languages for which we don't offer podcasts, as I discussed here and here in the Praxis blog.

Ahh, KennyK, I see you don't read the Praxis Blog. The Cantonese forum is already live. AuntieSue is running things over there, and doing a bang up job. Hope you like the JapaneseSense forum. :)
