quick question if I may.
I know if you want to say "try my best to..." you can use "盡量" (jin4 liang4)
however, I have noticed that this website only uses "儘量" (jin3 liang4) in its example sentences.
If i want to say "I want to try and say a few words..." do I use "儘量" or "盡量" ?
My understanding is the former is more appropriate in this instance, because it implies doing to the best of one's ability.

尽量 (=儘量, jin3 liang4) and 尽量 (= 盡量, jin4 liang4) are two different words. The former means "as much as possible" (adverb), and the latter "drink/eat to the full" (verb). That said, actually both "jin3 liang4" and "jin4 liang4" are interchangeably used in the sense of "as much as possible" in China.

Hi bingkk32,
Here, in the sentence, "I want to try and say a few words...", "盡量" is better
尽量 [盡] jìnliàng to the best of one's ability
尽管 [儘] jǐnguǎn even though
So, the two characters are used in different circumstances and we seldom use the complicated character actually.
Have a nice day!

yes from what I have read it seems they are used interchangeably in practice.
