I should clarify; the basic Cpod app is available on Samsung apps, but the other apps you have are not. Please keep us in mind. Thank you.

Hi all,
Can you please try to uninstall the app and re-install it and see if you are still facing these issues?
Thank you.

Hi Guys,
I also had exactly the same problem with user22279 and adam_p_lax, the app clashes everytime iPhone goes to sleep.
Well, the tip from Armel@ChinesePod above at least worked for me. Now I can continue listening to the lesson even after the phone goes to sleep. Hope this will do the trick for the other guys out there.

I can't log in to my android cpod app. It's driving me crazy. I've logged in and out of the main site, and tried again with the app, but no luck.
This app has never been perfect, but now, I have nothing.
Has anyone had a similar experiance and been able to fix it?

I shall probably give you a call tomorrow. I'm not to far, I'm in Kunming. I do really like Cpod, but current app issues are driving me crazy. Giving your Shanghai office a call may save some time for both of us.

Just completely reset my mobile, double check that the issue isn't with me. Still the same. Can't log in!!!

I've already tried that. Twice. No luck though. I've just done it a third time, but the issue remains the same.
I've also tried wi-fi at home and in the office and tried it with a China Mobile mobile signal. Nothing seems to work.

Could someone from cpod PLEASE reply to my post.
It's been at least 2 weeks I've been unable to sign in to my app. I can access the cpod website from my phone and sign in, but I can't sign in to the app itself. I'm being told that my email address and password do not match. But they are the same as those I use for the website.
I've never been 100% happy with this app. It never quite fits my Samsung screen, and this is not the first time I've had trouble signing in. It's been a common occurrence, but never for this length of time.
I'm paying money for this!

Similar to my app problems. Whenever a problem was fixed, it no sooner returned. When I refresh my flash card desks, the app crashes, then signs me out and refuses to let me sign in again. I've given up on using the app. It's just unworkable. I sure hope these issues can be fixed soon.

I did that and it only worked for a day. The problem has returned again.

It's been almost a week now since the app has been unusable, who do we talk to to get a refund for the premium fee around here?.

iOS (latest version - 1.14) Thank you for bringing back the saved issues.
I am also still having the problem with running the app in the background. The audio cuts out as soon as the screen is switched off or locks. It shuts the app completely and you have to open the app from scratch, navigate to the lesson previously listened to and start playing the audio file from the start. I used to have this issue on a different app - screen lock shuts down the app instead of leaving the audio running in background mode

Hi Romontana,
Thanks for pointing out the bugs. the 2nd one is fixed in the next version. We will release next version as soon as possible. Please also let us know how do you trigger the 1st bug. I am not able to replicate this issue.

Here is what I've noticed for the iOS app that needs attention.
1) As has been noted by others, the app doesn't stay open. As soon as the screen is locked or another function is engaged for a moment, the app has to be rebooted.
2) Grammar/Expansion – when the pinyin and English are revealed, the pinyin text is squished right up against the Chinese text above it, making it all difficult to read. Additionally, longer lines of Chinese text are cut off, ending instead with an ellipsis [...]. Obviously completely unacceptable.
The app is the main reason I am willing to pay for the service and I haven't been getting my money's worth for months now. Please, please, please – fix the bugs once and for all, test the updates before releasing them, and stop treating paid users as if we have an inexhaustible reservoir of goodwill.

how long could it possibly take to downgrade an app, it's been two days now since "Sean" claimed to be working on it, and things have only gotten worse :(
Do we really have to take our whinging to cpod facebook page to get some traction here

Fellow users, let me know if you think we should vent our frustration over there?

Root,
If you want even greater control than iTunes offers managing iOS Apps, you might want to consider DiskAid:

How to revert back to an older version of an iOS app using iTunes:

I always use this backup technique with all my important apps.

The new version of app ceased within 10 seconds when put in background or when the phone is in sleep mode making it impossible to listen to lessons w/o screen on and app in foreground...ios7, iPhone 5s.
Agree with other posters; could you please test updates before putting then out. Each new version seems to have large (and obvious) bugs that aren't caught somehow...

Happens with all of them, eg 'Foreign Intern' 'Health Care Reform', etc

App crashes 100% of the time when put in background or phone is put to sleep while playing lesson audio after about 5 seconds.

Same for me on my Android app - no saved lessons. It suggests that I subscribe, hmmm.
I've submitted a technical recommendation previously, but it was not taken to heart. So let me try it on this forum:
Please, please, please, do not add any more clever features until the major bugs are fixed. I'd like to see the next few 'upgrades' have no more look-n-feel changes and no added functionality. Rather, the upgrades should be just that, upgrading the app so that it works properly.
The issue with no saved lessons is a big one. Another is that the lesson timer functions only intermittently so that it often does not track where you are in the audio lesson. This prevents being able to see where a particular passage is and also breaks the jump forward/back feature.
How about when you release an upgraded version of the app, you provide a set of release notes so that we, the users, can verify that the problems are fixed? Better yet, how about testing the app before sending it out, maybe identifying a set of beta test users to play with it for a week or two before releasing it into the wild.

June 11, 2014 at 01:10 PMSorry to pile on the app issues, but are you able to make apps available to those of us living in China and using Android?
I use Android, and as you're aware, Google Play is hit and miss here.
