audio sometimes not playing

November 21, 2013 at 02:27 PM posted in General DiscussionFor some time there have been apparently intermittant but growing problems with the audio buttons sometimes not playing. I reported this first on October 11 and was told to clear the cash. The problem keeps occurring however.
My experience is with Firefox which even cut out half way through playing a podcast recently.
Please note that others have reported this too.

The answer to your question whether anyone in Cpod is looking at this appears to be no

Yeah, I have been having the same problems, mostly with the lesson audio buttons freezing / not working.
The lesson expansion sentences audio usually freezes up and the Qingwen dialogue audio does not work at all.
Re-booting and clearing the cache does not resolve the issue.
It is rather irritating, after paying for a subscription, one would expect that the product to function properly.
Has anyone on CPOD's technical team looked into this?
By the way, I really like CPOD, however, these glitches really mar an otherwise great resource.

This is getting very irritating. I am half way through doing exercises for the lesson: Regional Variations on Helpfulness and then the audio buttons in the Dictation section don't work. Again using Firefox. They work with Internet Explorer, but with Internet Explorer the lines are not drawn to connect the buttons in the matching part of the exercise - see other problem just logged.

Well I have just tried Chrome - I worked for a while and packed up.
Firefox seems the worst.
IE seems to be the most reliable for me for the audio

Hi Mike,
I have had the same problem the last month or so. In my case it is always Chrome. Firefox (I have 25.0.1) seems to work if I switch to it when chrome fails. A reboot often fixes the chrome issue but just clearing the cache does not. I also notice that the podcast often seems to stop once part way through and I have to re-start it. Once re-started it plays all the way through the second time. I use the audio buttons a lot so it can be quite frustrating. Odd that for you its firefox and for me its chrome, but same symptoms. Maybe just because I lean mostly on chrome these days. It will often work for a while and then just stop.

December 13, 2013 at 12:28 PMI've had similar problems with the audio buttons randomly not responding in Firefox, often in the dictation part of the exercises, ever since the big site redesign a long time back that moved away from Flash and replaced with, I think, HTML5. At the time they said the changes affected everything BUT the exercise page, though that was over 18 months ago. Switching over to Chrome usually gets me through the lesson, though wish I didn't have to use such a workaround.
