Android App not Syncing
darkstar94
December 22, 2012 at 09:29 AM posted in General DiscussionI heard that there was a problem with Chinesepod and iTunes before, I'm wondering if this is related. I have been unable to sync my Android app to get new lessons for a bit over a week now I think. Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

I can't even login with the android app, it says there is a connection problem. While I can easily access chinesepod.com website from my android's web browser.
And I can login with iOS app on my iPad, but it crashes right after logging in.
Feeling sad that I can use none of chinesepod apps....

I am able to login to the Android version without any issue from my phone.

YES! I am having this problem again. The cause of the problem when I first posted this was that the version of the app wasn't compatiable with my version of Android. This time I am not sure why it isn't letting me login. Same with you, I am clearly connected to the internet, but it comes us with connection problems.

I have a problem when I go to some specific lessons (all the intermediary ones actually), it crashes ("Unfortunately, ChinesePod has stopped") when I click on the "Listen" button. Then it goe back to the Self-Study list.
All the Elementary lessons work just fine (in general).
Another problem, if I click the "Study lesson" green button from the lesson description, it would always crash if the screen is rotated. That happens with any lesson.
I have not seen any update for this app yet...
Thanks!

Okay that didn't work, would it have something to do with the fact I have a Galaxy S1?

The pictures in the market look a lot different to what I have now, but it's not asking to update, I guess my last resort is to uninstall and reinstall...

There was an update put on the market around the beginning of this month. We are getting ready for another update, yet nothing fixed with the list of self-study lessons as I haven't had a problem on any device. On the market is currently version 3.2.3...please check.

Since the change of code to the website I have been unable to sync anything. I open up my Chinesepod app, go to self-study and then go sync. It loads for a second and then nothing new comes up. I have about 10 lesson that I have bookmarked that don't show up. I have not seen an update in the market in a long time.

Darkstar, I have fixed bugs in the current version you can update to, such as the issue with bookmarks and marking as studied. I have been able to sync my Android just fine. Can you tell me what you are experiencing? Thanks!

Hey I'm just wondering if there is a date for the new update or something? Not to sound impatient, but it would be nice to be able to sync my phone sometime soon.

My problem is that I'm having to mark lessons as studied both on the Android app, and then again on the web page. It's like there are two separate settings for the same thing.
For the most part I love the Android app, it's really well done. I actually enjoy studying on my tablet more than on my desktop. All of the sync issues have been frustrating though.

Kellyl, I'm working on this right now as the new Android App developer. I actually just added text to the button to "Un-Study" and "Un-Bookmark" and came here to just check the bookmarked status of a lesson for testing... still in the works though, but want you to know it is being worked on, hopefully to be done around Mid-Feb as I need to add some other features.

Our developers are working on this fix at the moment. This is not a bug per say, but rather the application has become outdated with respect to the website's new bookmarking features and self-study tab.
We are trying our best to update this and release the new version as soon as possible.
In the meantime new lessons can still be accessed via the library --> Latest lessons.

I have been having a similar problem for a couple of weeks now. Subscribed lessons are syncing on my Android phone, but lessons I bookmark individually are not.
This seemed to coincide with the introduction of the new 'bookmark' and 'studied' buttons on the website. A number of people seemed to be having various other troubles as well. Hopefully it gets sorted soon as it is starting to put a cramp on how I've been using the site.
