Manage Lessons issues

December 06, 2012 at 05:00 PM posted in General DiscussionThe 'Manage Lessons' page seems to be having some problems. A few days ago it used to default to only showing you your active lessons, now it shows all of your bookmarked lessons from years gone by, and there is no way to filter it back down to only your active lessons.
The links in the active column of the lessons chart along the right side of the page also used to filter properly to both 'active' and the 'show', but they don't work at all now.
On a related note, there also doesn't seem to be a way to unbookmark a bunch of lessons at once either short of going to each lesson one at a time and clicking on the button there. The only bulk option currently in the Manage Lessons page is to 'delete' them, which appears to have the effect of also deleting your 'studied' flag entirely.

Just re-joined CPod after a few months to find that manage lessons has disappeared. I would like to delete my current bookmarked lessons and start afresh but can't see an easy way to do this. Maybe I need to cancel my subscription and create a new ID?

What ever happened to this page?: http://chinesepod.com/dashboard/manage. This was one of the most beneficial parts of ChinesePod, being able to manage one's own lessons. On the dashboard page right now, you can't really control anything from it, which takes away a huge amount of utility. Will we get the manage lesson page back?

Dear All,
Good news, our tech team has just re-implemented the green-tick for studied lessons. These should now appear in the library once again as before.
As for the label function, this has been removed for the time being.

I used to be able to push lessons back to the top of the list by un-bookmarking them and then bookmarking them again, but this does not seem to work any more. Also when I "save selected vocabulary" it does not appear on the top of my vocabulary list as it did previously either. I wonder if these are bugs or just further elimination of features. I am really at a loss as to how to organize my studies on Chinese Pod, even after being a customer for years.

Yes, persuade ChinesePod to reinstate the manage lessons page and labelling function. It meant you could arrange all the resources of ChinesePod in any way you needed.
Yesterday was the first day (excluding days I have had no computer or internet access or the CP site has been down) in the 15 months I have been subscribed, that I did not listen to or work on ChinesePod lessons for at least a few minutes. I am not sure what I will study, if anything, today, as I feel aimless and unmotivated without my little units of lessons to work through and complete.

Wow, I always wanted to be able to do that, and did not know it was there. Maybe there are others like me. Sometimes features disappear because "nobody was using them anyway" when part of the reason for that was that nobody knew about them. That's my impression of what happened to the now defunct CPod mobile web site anyway. I've heard bad things about the new iTunes too, so I am at a loss as to the best way to group lessons together. Any suggestions?

Dear Justin,
Thank you for answering my question, even if it was not the reply I was hoping for. I do hope you will reconsider the label function, as it is one of the ways in which ChinesePod fulfils its claim to enable poddies to learn what they want to learn in the way that best suits them. That essential element of personalisation and meeting individual needs. Furthermore, I put a considerable amount of time into arranging the lessons into 'units' to fit my own personal needs, and am a bit stuck now that I can no longer access my 'units'. It is as if, were I following a paper coursebook, someone had, without warning, taken my coursebook in the night, and left it on my desk in the morning all cut up into individual pages in a random order! So please do consider reinstating the label function. Shengdanjie kuaile! Daena

I had my lessons sorted by topic area, e.g 'birthday' or 'health' using the 'label' feature. Now I cannot find the 'label' feature, and cannot find the drop down menu that allowed one to display the lessons according to their label. Is this function still available?

Also, in the Library/Channel lessons list the green ticks that would appear when a lesson was marked as "Studied" no longer are added to the list. It seems that the lessons that had the ticks still have them, it just isn't possible to add them to newly marked "Studied" lessons.

Our apologies. We are currently going through some structural changes to our dashboard and lesson management sections, and our tech team is currently working on adding filters and settings to address the issues.
Thank you for your patience.

If I could make two suggestions:
1. Tell us when you are about to make changes. At least we won't to worry if something is wrong with our computer, Internet connection, or settings. It seems like in the past changes got heralded with a news item or some such, but now we find out about the changes when surprised and confused users (such as I) start leaving comments.
2. Test the changes in a beta version first. I realize that bugs are bound to creep in, and your website is fairly ambitious in what it delivers, but I was only half joking when I observed that bugs always seem to crop up on Friday afternoons and go unresolved over the weekend.
Thank you for the explanation.

I noticed that the bookmark buttons on the lesson screen are different now, so maybe they are going through some type of interface change, but havent worked out all the kinks yet....

February 09, 2013 at 03:49 AMHave decided to vote with my feet and leave CPod. The iPhone/iPad apps are useless and without the manage function through the website it takes forever to select a block of lessons to learn.
