Pad Computing

Would you please provide more information about whether any pad computing devices are compatible with your advanced learning center, and if you have any plans to rework the site so its fully usable with pad computers.  I have tried with both an Ipad and a Asus Android and it doesn't work to produce sounds.

If you would replace this Flash player with "JPlayer" (http://www.jplayer.org/), then audio would run without problems in EVERY browser, also in MobileSafari.

Peter, any news on when should we expect iPad CPod app? I've noticed some imporvements with your iPhone app recently but running it on iPad still falls short in a major way...

I think having proper app for iPad would boost your subscription rates in a long run as it is becoming a platform of choice for language learners.

We are all waiting...

We recommend using the ChinesePod iPhone App instead of browsing our website on your Safari browser. Our tech team is working on a solution to resolve this problem by creating a mobile version of our site specifically for tablet devices.

That is great news. Nowadays I am using my laptop while commuting (in a company bus), using my iPad would be significantly more pleasant.

I really don't understand why the site doesn't work with either an Ipad or non-apple pads with flash.  The whole point of delivering a product is to make it useable for customers, and there has been plenty of lead time now.

I don't think that ChinesePod should setup Safari-compatible website. What they need to do is to design a proper iPad app, so we can finally ditch that iPhone one which looks and works terrible with iPad. The main advantage of having iPad app vs. compatible website is that the former can be used offline while the latter can't.

iPad is the perfect platform for learning languages. I really hope that that cPod development guys recognize that and do something about it.

Hi, our ChinesePod website is not fully compatible with the Safari mobile browser. The Safari browser does not support Adobe products, therefore, any Flash related functions will not work when using the iPad.

Hi Peter,

I'm assuming this is the same reason for the issue I mentioned in the following post?

http://chinesepod.com/community/conversations/post/12102

Could you elaborate on future compatibility for Safari? I ask that because more and more people are using Apple computers, iPhones, iPads, etc. and Safari's market share is growing.

What's the probability of Cpod creating a Safari-based site, or at least a site that will work on tablet PCs? I think that was the original poster's question. I'd be surprised if Cpod didn't have something in the works. Perhaps an HTML5-based site for the iPad?

I tried the site today with iPad2 on noticed quite quickly three problems:

1) flashcards work incorrectly (I have six words in my list, but flahscards shows only one of them, six times).

2) I cannot write messages to the forum (using PC now)

3) Playing sounds does not work (but lessons mp3 can be played)

I am on the free trial period now and because of these issues I am not sure if I will become a paying customer.

p.s. I did try the iPhone app, but on the iPad it is not that nice to use.
