Okay here we go with a few questions

1）How do I say "it rained from morning to evening" my guess is:-

2) I always thought 怎么样 meant “how's things" so 你怎么样 means "how are you" am I right?

3) This weekend I discovered the word 替 is this a commonly used word?

4) when I want to say etc is 等等 or 什么的 more usual?

5) My grammar seems to be pretty poor should I work on this or would perfecting set phrases be better?

Okay here we go

1) the answer to this is 雨从早上下到晚上

the 下 in this is the 下雨's  

2) I am correct that is one meaning however that is just one of the meanings.  It can also mean how about

我们出去吃饭，怎么样。。。 ？

in adition 不怎么样 means not very good 

今晚的菜不怎么样 .this evenings dishes were not good

3) 替  is commonly used but is more like buying something for someone

我替老婆买了一个手表  ？

note: in amongst this I notice that my pronunciation of 猜 is obviously not right.  Need to do something to compare cxx with txx.

什么的is more usual.

你的语法已经有很大的进步了！别着急！It would be very helpful if you could find out all the grammar points and master all the set pharses in the dialouges and the expansions.
