Manage Lessons - Labels

Hi CPod, thank you first for fixing this problem and this problem, it is much appreciated.

Managing Lessons is still a little inconvenient though. I used to be able to Add and Edit Labels freely without problems. Now however, I'm finding that whenever I Add a New Label to a lesson, these happen:

1. When the lesson is an already Studied one, it gets sent into Active lessons (and also shows up on the dashboard), so I have to go to the lesson page now and re-Mark as Studied.

2. Any previous label I already had there disappears. We used to be able to add as many labels to any lesson as we liked, but now apparently only one is being accepted.

Are we meant to only be able to have one label for any lesson? If so I have a hard time seeing why, that doesn't make much sense. In any case I hope this can be fixed soon.

* Regarding ChinesePod's Lesson Sets, I would appreciate it if you could consider either
(1) making the title of this lesson set shorter--the name becomes the label (tag), and for that it's long and takes up so much space. Even a title like Lao Wang's Office I think might be better shortened to Lao Wang, if it's going to transfer as an uneditable tag, which it does now.
OR
(2) enabling us to edit such titles in Edit Labels, once we've added the Lesson Set to our archive.

Thank you!

Update:  The first two issues I mentioned above in terms of things that happen when a label is applied to lessons in My Lessons are not as urgent (to me, for my lesson management purposes, they're conditions that I think I can make myself live with even though it means taking these extra steps to re-Mark as Studied etc.). The one issue I'd really like addressed and fixed is the third one--we're currently not able to Apply more than one label to a lesson.

Obviously I have my reasons for making and applying the labels I do to the lessons I study. I would really appreciate being given back the ability to apply multiple labels to any lesson. Guess this is one of those things, if we never had it in the first place we would never be missing it now. But as you can see I had already begun to organize my lessons in that manner, and the current limitation to one label only is making it impossible to keep the system I already have there. I don't want to spend time to re-do all that.

Please consider! Thank you

Guess I should re-cap the issues I see with Editing Labels.

I'm finding that whenever I Add a New Label to a lesson, these happen:

1. When the lesson is an already Studied one, it gets sent into Active lessons (and also shows up on the dashboard), so I have to re-Mark as Studied.

2. A lesson Added by Subscription turns into a Bookmarked. No biggie I guess, it's just inaccurate information in the archive. And it renders the ability to sort by Subscribed / Bookmarked meaningless.

3. Any previous label I already had there disappears. We used to be able to add as many labels to any lesson as we liked, but now apparently only one is being accepted.

Are we meant to only be able to have one label for any lesson? If so I have a hard time seeing why, that doesn't make much sense.

Hope this can be made to work better soon, because this Labeling was something that used to work well. And is it too much to ask for a reply saying you understand the issue, see what I'm talking about--or if not, that you can't see--even if for whatever reason you can't get on it now?

Huh I see, interesting. Well at least it's good for somebody, even though it's a bug to me!

Like I said it doesn't matter too very much to me if one of My Lessons shows as Bookmarked or Subscribed, but if Peter can't tell when one was actually a Subscribed showing as a Bookmarked--I guess it's up to CPod what they think and if they want to do anything about that so that it's making more user sense.

"man" 没问题,I've never liked bothering with all that "he or she".

Actually Zhen, you have discovered a work around for me. I like to bring lessons back to bookmark status from time to time for review. Cant do that from the manage page and must go to the lessons themselves, remove and bookmark one by one, but now I can add labels (Rev) and bring them back. After marking them studied once again I can trash the label or next time make it Rev2 and as you pointed out, it will replace the Rev label, bring it back again and keep track of how many times I have reviewed it. One man's (woman in this case) bug is another man's shortcut. :-)

Oh duh. I see now, I don't have to go to the lesson page to (re-)mark a lesson as Studied, I can do that in Manage Lessons with the drop-down box.
The issues I brought up remain though. I'd appreciate CPod's attention to them. Thank you

I was going to post on something similar

I wanted to mark the lesson as studied  but I can't it always remains assigned /active.

Tried to search for a solution in the community but I'm not sure community search does anything...  (one big area the site could improve)

Yeah thats the anwser, they've taken it away. The lessons used to disappear over time but stopped doing that when the course tab was introduced.

Hi Trevor, do you mean you can't mark the lesson Studied by clicking on the icon on the left, in Manage Lessons? Is this the same question you have?

On second thought, on

* Regarding ChinesePod's Lesson Sets, I would appreciate it if you could consider either

I guess it actually doesn't matter too much. The other inconvenience with adding these series Lesson Sets is that once they're in my archive I can't tell what order the lessons go in. So I may as well go back to the Set every time I want to study the next lesson and add the lesson individually, because it is listed in order there. In this sense Bookmark Set doesn't work as well as we would hope.

In any case though, it would be best if we could edit the Lesson Set title in Edit Label once the set has been added to our archive.

... it seems I'm talking to myself here, but I see now, Added Lesson Set titles DON'T become labels in My Lessons (so what I said here about the titles being a bit too long are no longer an issue). But you CAN still view that set of lessons in isolation using the drop-down menu. Which makes good sense. Just noticed that now, not sure when this change happened.

OK so that's good! If the purpose were to try to make everything perfect a bit more tweaking would be needed (those titles still show up in the list of Labels you can edit and delete, but they really shouldn't), but for user Lesson Management purposes it's fine now. Better than before the change.
