June 16, 2010 at 6:44 AMBaba ah the closest thing I can think of to the topknot wig in your picture is one of the kinds people use when trying to dress up as sumo wrestlers--it's hard to tell. It doesn't look like a Japanese do.

As Baba himself says, I'm sure he makes a point of expressing appreciation for CPod staff because he really means it. Also I have a feeling he might wish to sort of balance out the user reaction to many website bugs and issues. Quite a bit of the recent feedback to CPod has been about pointing out glitches and voicing our dissatisfaction, but staff are all human and need to be shown appreciation and support too even though it may be their job to listen and respond to our gripes and criticisms.

Rabbit went fishing. (He wasn't catching anything.) All day long from daybreak to dusk, he saw not so much as a ripple in the water.
Then suddenly a fish leapt out of the water. It snapped at Rabbit: "Just what do you take me for?! You bait your hook with another damn carrot and I'll make stew out of you!!"
What I'm not sure of here is which sense (both?) we are meant to interpret this 糊弄. Because it takes the direct object 我 I have to think it's the sense "to fool (me)". But it also seems to me like Rabbit just hasn't cared enough to get the right bait to catch fish, such as worms--maybe they're more of a hassle for him to procure. Seems to me like Rabbit realizes carrots probably aren't the best bait, but that he just couldn't bother to show the fish proper respect. That it's OK with him to try to make do with carrots. And that was what provoked the fish's ire.
拿 (use) ~ 当 (as) ~ I said above. I guess you could also say 拿 (use) ~ 当 (in place of) ~. * Hey Dunderklumpen I just read your comment below. Sorry if my hints were misleading! *
Hope Lilac or another 老师 comes to the rescue. I enjoyed this joke.

Still don't get the meaning of that term (no worries, I can do my own research), and still feel weird saying "barracking"--no one around me will understand. I do sympathize; it must be a drag to constantly be reminded that so many people believe American to be the universal standard English. Cheers
