I watched the 2005 Super Girl competition religiously because of the UNBELIEVABLE TALENTS of one 纪敏佳 Ji Min Jia. From the first heavenly refrain that eminated from those golden pipes, I was hooked! She was THE ONE. She had such a brilliant voice, the ability to send shivers down my spine with every note! It takes an exeptional talent to perform a song by the great Celine Dion and perform it just as powerfully as Celine can do it! When she only placed 5th in the competition I was in SHOCK! What shocked me more was when the victor was announced, a tomboyish and VERY MEDIOCRE 争夺赛. A pretty good dancer and a sort of okay singer. To this day, I don't understand how she beat out the BEST. I guess the tomboys of China identified with her. I got to meet 纪敏佳 in person at the Pomona convention center and have my picture taken with her, WOW what a thrill, I'm telling you! To MY Supergirl 纪敏佳, here's to you! You will always be the best!!!

哎呀！ 我就惊悉2006年9月13日, 没有人来听这门关于卓别林的高级中文播课呀! 我好像想起连 Jenny 老师都说, "看起来高级中文是个非常小的团体", 百闻不如一见, 那时 Chinesepod.com 的社区真的相当小, 甚至没有人来留言了! 好的, 为向 Jenny, 和 Jeff (特别是 Jeff 老师的魅力)　表示敬意，我要谦逊地把　＂查理·卓别林，　高级中文播课＂的第一次的留言贴上！ 我想说，　查理·卓别林，就是银幕的最大的巨星而且没有他，现代电影制片业肯定不会存在．卓别林也多影响了电影艺术的方面尤其是讽刺和黑膜的那种电影． Poddies, 同志们，　你们同不同意？　来来来把你们的意见 post 在这里． （我也想说一声，我很想念 Aggie)

Amber: I always wonder about the change of pronunciation for the character 当. In which cases should we pronounce it dāng and when should we pronounce it as dàng?

maxiewawa: I agree with you. I think because English has become so dominant that the general attitude (at least here in America) is that it is pointless to learn a foreign language because everyone already speaks English, and if they can't then they SHOULD! So because of this pervasive attitude, when we see foreigners speaking English we think nothing of it. We forget to be appreciative that someone had gone to great lengths to better understand us, our national language and our culture.

bingge: Just to let you know, in your question: 你用了“成为”。成为和当作有什么不一样吗？ There is no need to use the question particle 吗. Remember generally speaking you don't use 什么 with 吗. The 语气助词 you want to use here is 呢。

Praveena: Xi3 huan1: Means "like" in the context of "I like you" or "I like to eat Chinese Food" Xiang3: means like in the context of "I would like to go to the movies with you" or "I would like to eat dinner at your house tonight" (It better equates to want or wish to...it indicates a persons intentions) Xi1 Wang4 means like in the context of "I would like to become a famous singer" (this better equates to "wish"...indicating a persons desires). I hope that helps.

downunder: As a general rule of thumb, use Mei2 to negate either: 1- Situations that occured in the past, IE: wo3 mei2 qu4 guo4 bei3 jing1 我没去过北京 I haven't been to Beijing. or to negate the word for have 有 (you3). Wo3 mei2 you3 dian4 nao3 我没有电脑。 I don't have a computer. In other cases, use the word Bu4 不 for the negative. Wo3 bu4 yao4 qu4 我不要去 I don't want to go. wo3 ting1 bu4 dong3 我听不懂 I don't understand wo3 kan4 bu4 dao4 lu4 le. 我看不到路了 I can't see the road. (just so you're clear, for the situations where the word Bu4 不 appears between two verbs, use the word "de2" 得，for the positive aspect, IE: 看得到，kan4 de2 dong3 听得懂 ting1 de2 dong3, etc. Also mainland Chinese pronounce the word 得 as neutral tone.) Hope that helps.

unbandeweller: Just to keep things consistant you might want to use 您 both times. Also I think you want to say 您好Jenny! 我爱聼您唱歌 Don't forget the 聼 (I love to hear you sing). 我們都想聼 Jenny 唱歌吧！
