But in my opinion, with regards to chinese grammar, I think the basics are really easy to grasp, but the more you delve deep, the more complex it gets. Basics easy. Fluency fiendishly hard. Wasn't it Pete, of Poem's with Pete fame, who was legendarily good at Chinese, but still confessed to sometimes making mistakes with 了？
