Wow, how beautiful. I'm not surprised there was no-one swimming though, with big waves and rocks around, you probably have quite dangerous riptides.

I'd love to know what the weird carts were though.

They did the "Thread of the month" offer a couple of times. But I think that's stopped now?

Is azerdocmom still around? I wonder how Josh's Chinese is getting on as he approaches the terrible teens :-)

First lesson I had to fast-forward through the dialogue on the second time round! I couldn't take any more hua xue! ;-)

Could it be a regional dialect issue?

Yea, I've seen repeated vocabulary. It's actually really great for people like me, who have trouble memorising. I won't get it set in the first time I hear it, but it's repeated the second time and I go "aha!" and remember it that time, or maybe the next time. Repeating common language has to be a good thing for increasing our conversational fluency, right?

I'm not sure that listing 32 countries in a single lesson really matches the chinesepod model? It kinda gets away from "learning in context" and sidles idly into long lists of vocab, which terrifies me :-p

Doesn't mean there's not a place for it in say, the glossary.

If I recall correctly, I think it means an open space where people can meet.
