glad to hear I was right. 让我再睡一会儿. - not likely "make me sleep some more.." 谁让你昨天打游戏打到天亮 - in this context this is not a question of who allowed him to play, but "nobody forced you, your choice..." In your example sentence, if it said 我让他从屋顶上跳下去。I would interpret it as "he wanted to and I let him..." Since this is quite a drastic thing, to make somebody jump off the roof, I think 让would not express that sufficiently. Therefore the 逼。

Cities in China have developed at such a fast pace over the last decade, it's incredible. Old Chengdu, for example, does literally not exist anymore. Instead of the old two-storey houses you have all these modern blocks... I often wonder where the people went. How do people on minimum wage (or less) live? Living costs are going up and its ever harder to find housing with affordable rents. How do they life? Where do they live???

This is a great lesson. Very useful. Maybe I should go back to the office now to practise the vocab... Only, my boss is not a bad person at all...

Context tells you if it is "let" or "make"...

Are these really two men talking here? They are so excited about getting new and tailor-made clothes, could be me and my friend...(who just recently had a red dress Chinese-style made). Have never overheard men talking about such things in such tones...

The background chattering... no way I can pick anything out... You guys must have a system to turn the main dialogue down and the background noise up! It's not even a question of what level of Chinese one has... I agree with MikeinEwshot - 吹牛!
