June 21, 2011 at 12:05 PMI seem to remember from a previous podcast that 土 （tu3) is associated with 'backwardness'. When I was teaching in Beijing, we got sent on a winter camp to Chengdu, where a lot of the Chinese teachers were describing the place as '土’ but I didn't seem to think so...like you said, I think it's very much a Chinese thing.

June 16, 2011 at 5:05 AMI had Tsingtao in Melbourne, and I must say it tasted a lot better than what I remember it being in Qingdao, PRC. Maybe it was 'export quality' or something?
Also, Xinjiang is an interesting place for a beer to come from, as most of the 新疆牛肉拉面 places I went to didn't sell beer because of their religious beliefs, but were quite happy for you to BYO.

July 5, 2011 at 4:34 AMIn the Podcast 'Lucky Day' at about 03:37, Dilu says 路走着走着走看到了, this obviously means 'as I was walking by I saw it'. Like the intro to this Podcast says, I'm perfectly happy to ignore it, without completely understanding it. What is the 着 doing here?
