I am familiar with Tang poetry...

静夜思 was the first Chinese poem i ever learned. I believe this to be one of the most popular ones...its simple and beautiful...

静夜思 jing4ye4si1 by 李白li3bai1

床前明月光 ;
疑是地上霜。
举头望明月;
低头思故乡。

chuang2 qian2 ming2 yue4 guang1
yi2 shi4 di4 shang4 shuang1
ju3 tou2 wang4 ming2 yue4
di1 tou2 si1 gu4 xiang1

"Before the bed, bright moonlight light;
Doubts is the ground frost.
Raises the head looks at the bright moonlight;
Lowers the head thinks of the hometown."

this lesson was full of great "cultural density"...its so cool to learn the language and about the culture at the same time! I've never heard of the gentlemen until today. Thanks for another interesting research topic.

i look forward to hearing some more native peoples comments about this topic...Cassielin??

i have to say that the ridiculousness of this video definetly stuck in my head and made an impression..

there are well over 100 posts about this now within a couple days...

maybe that was the point...to freak people out!

i think you did accomplish something "radical" cpod!

Qingwen is still awesome!

Pete, i really liked your "today we have a question from Dick in an undisclosed location" bit...I think you did something like that on the last QW too...So funny! It reminds me of Casey Kasem on his old Top 40 show...i think you found your shtick man!

John

After watching it last night and sleeping on it...I have to agree with everyone else...the content seemed to be lacking and it just wasnt funny. I was waiting for the punchline that never really happened. My reaction at the end was like..what the??! So I cannot bring myself to watch it again!

BUT, i really appreciate the fact you are trying to experiement and explore new ways to teach the material.

So far, i feel CPOD is way worth the money...The community is great and I cant go one day without being on this website. Most importantly, the podcasts, Dear Amber, Qingwen, and Whats the story are all useful and produced very well. Now those are all things i enjoy listening to and/or watching over and over and over and over again!!
