Since this lesson is back in the spotlight, here is some supplementary vocab:

圣经 Shèng jīng 　＝　Holy Bible

马利亚 Mǎ lì yà 　＝　Mary, mother of Jesus Christ

耶稣基督  Yē sū Jī dū  ＝　Jesus Christ

and sentences:

耶稣爱你！Yē sū ài nǐ!  = Jesus loves you!

我为你祈祷 wǒ wéi nǐ qí dǎo. = I prayed for you.

我每星期天去教堂 wǒ měi xīng qī tiān qù jiào táng = I go to church every Sunday.

I personally can recommend Lonely Planets Mandarn phrasebook. Its compact,useful, colorful, and has lots of interesting info in it! You can find it in the language section of any bookstore.

As far as places to stay in Beijing...i stayed in the Chong Wen Men Hotel for a few days last Spring. I would definitely recommend that one. It was clean, affordable, close to everything (subway,malls,tourist stuff) and very "foreigner friendly"

i just remembered that this 巾 is used for towel-related things...

Once upon a time in a land far far away in the magical city of Beijing, I was desperatly trying to figure out how to ask for more bath towels...

i found these two things:

毛巾 mao2 jin1 and 浴巾 yù jī

then i found this:

一条 yi1 tiao2 = classifier

外加 wai4 jia1 = extra

So i think i ended up saying something like this...

给我外加一条毛巾。

not sure if thats right but they knew what i meant! 5 minutes later a little old chinese guy showed up with a armload of fresh white towels!
