November 11, 2007 at 11:10 AMI'm going to guess this is a north-south difference. NB is risque, but it isn't considered horribly offensive in Beijing. Everyone in Shanghai seems to view it with complete horror though. @RJBerki - there's a band called "er3guang1" (slap) that has a great song called "rang4 niu2bi1". The lyrics are really intelligent and filled with wordplay - an educated song not indulging in taboo form of expression. Not much of their stuff is floating around, but I think that song is on mp3.baidu.com. I saw the band play this live at the last Midi festival in Beijing: everyone had a good time and no-one seemed offended in the least. I'm surprised it is such an issue down south. So I'm guessing this is a regional issue. Anyone else up north to confirm/deny this?

November 8, 2007 at 5:42 AMThose bells are cool. I still think this "mooncakes" / "moon" connection is a bit weak though.

November 5, 2007 at 11:36 AMWere you here when we recorded it Bazza? You'd have been welcome in the studio, but I think we did this one after you left, instead of on Monday as usual.

November 4, 2007 at 4:01 AMPaging Amber... paging Amber.... On a language note, I really like this 有 X 有 Y way of expressing "both". For me it's going up there with Verb+死+了+死+了.... 累死了又死了又死了有死了.... Picked that up from a university student in Beijing. Not sure if it makes me sound female, but I like using it.
