Hi bababardwan,

Coming back to your first question, I think 拔 can describe the action of pulling something in order to (try and) extract it, regardless of whether you're successful or not.

I've heard it used with different complements to indicate success or failure, for example 我拔也拔不出来 (e.g. if your key gets stuck in the door).

This raises another question. I've come across both of these but can't tell what (if any) the difference is

拔出来 / 拔不出来

拔下来 / 拔不下来

Can anyone help?

Well I'm at it, there's a well-known 儿歌 called 拔萝卜. It uses the complement 拔不动. If anyone wants to sing along, you can use the link below:

Nice lesson.

In the supplementary vocab, there's 广泛 guàngfàn. Is the 广 really 4th tone? The recording on the vocab page sounds like 3rd to me.

Hi,

In the expansion and exercise there's this expression:

了。

but in the audio I hear 了。

Am I hearing correctly and if so is there a difference in meaning?

Maybe a silly question, but is there any reason I can't buy a voucher for myself to take advantage of this deal?

Hi Tal,

I also haven't been able to access the site (from Beijing) for the last couple of days. Using a proxy now, but it's too slow to do anything useful. What VPN do you use? Is it free or do you pay?

Expansion sentence:

房间空气不太一下
(The air conditioner in this room isn't very good. Open the window for a bit.)

Does 空气 imply air-conidtioner or does it just mean the air isn't good? smelly???
