Right now I'm moving ... in the same building. In Paris, my new landlord asked one month deposit. Usually the agent fee is one month. Your net salary has to be 3 times more than the rent. Professionals movers can cost from 500 to 1000€ to fill up 10 meters cubes. I invited friends to move my furnitures to a parking box. Most appartments come with no furnitures, if they are it's just the kitchen and the bed. Well I should put this for frenchpod.

About wines, I prefer sweet wines (Muscat, Monbazillac, Sauternes), other taste bitter to me. So Chinese made wines are perfect for me: sweet (young grapes) and cheap.

Congrulations, it means Most Valuable Contributor can be broadcasted on CPod.

Just a question Cassie, what is the purpose of military training on universities ?

From my experience, when Chinese staff didn't give me the information they held, I ask to talk to their manager. No evasive answer, just what I need . It has pretty worked well so far.

I'm bit confused of the use of to need. The simple form is 要+Verb = to need + verb. Could you explain more on 需要 ?

Public speaking emphasize the tones, at the same time, words flow is one by one. For me it's easier to understand, the drawback is I can't re-apply the same phrase. My memory works by words pattern.

Ever heard foreigners give a public speech ? Once a Swede girl performed with perfect pronounciation (HSK >8) , everyone was "OOh". No one really understood except the officials but we were much impressed.

On my arrival day , I bought a 交通卡 jiao1 tong1 ka3. It's really convenient for transportation, you can use it on metro, bus and taxi.

How would you say: 交通 can be used on metro, bus and taxi ?

I miss 小笼包 much. According to Anthony Bourdain it's one of Shanghai delicacy.

Once I ate octopus and fried tofu on the streets. At dinner,my stomach felt bad.

My question : how to use When ?

Is the form with 了 correct? For example

When you buy a sim card, you don't need ID card. So it's easy to register on a fake ID.

when you lose you phone, all data inside are lost too. It's best to have email addresses.

how to use When ?      的时候,      <=>     了 ,      .Is the 2nd one correct?

One friend bought a stolen phone in one small shop. At first, he thought it's a brand new, then the default picture was a girl he never met. It is easy to resell it at the same shop for 40% discount. I guess it's all part of a cycle market.

I just came back from Shanghai so busy to spend my money on Shanghai nightlife that I didn't visit CPod lately :)

Honnestly, this dichotomy is very stressed in Shanghai. It's like 2 population moving at differents speed. At Fudan university, the foreigners pay 100RMB/day for housing, the local students rent for about 160RMB/month a tiny 4 people room without air-condition,kitchen,living room. Another dichotomy is education. Those who paid their diploma in economy for an artillery school in Anhui are unskilled for the labor market. The elite from Tsinghua get the sexy job thanks to their guanxi.

Quiet frankly, I wonder who can buy at Zara, H&M, Nike and Haggen Daz since they keep the same price as in Europe. The 'rich' Chinese go crazy for non-national brand. Electronic goods like laptop, cellphone are the same price too and they are supposed to be manufactured in China. On the other hand, you can get decent food on the street for a few kuai. The best symbol of this antagony is the Old Town and Pudong with its skyscrapers separated by the HuangPu river.

A Dear Amber on this subject would be very interesting and edgy! Because Praxis is located in Shanghai, they may not be able to fully address the issues that could arise. But there are some issues that could be addressed.

Exactly, Praxis offices look nice and across the street is like Old Town.

In many ways, China is a grand experiment in developing a modern society. The distribution of wealth issues are not easy anywhere in the world and can produce great social discord.

So true in a communist country, there is so much wealth difference. Next: The fortune policy of the Chinese government ?
