(1) I'd like to add one to the list: 亚美尼亚 = Armenia (2) mmdoldovan, (a) I don't think that wanting to know a foreigner's nationality is terribly Chinese. I think everyone does this, (b) I don't think it's fair to generalize and say that the "Chinese hate the Japanese so much". There is a history there, but I won't go into that here, you can look it up in any textbook or online, (c) re: your final question, I don't think so, mainly because I don't think you can generalize one billion people as all having the same view towards non-Western countries. Moreover, I never found this to be the case. If anything, I would think people (anywhere) would be more intrigued to meet someone from Bangladesh, as opposed to someone from the United States. Hope this helps.

Lantian/Henning: I'd add that I think that 了 as 6 is not such a leap when you think of 了's other (often more formal) pronunciation as "liao".

I made one up that seems like it could work: 370 - 精神病

For TaiPan's benefit, I'd like to point out that in Hawaiian, the word for computer is also "electric brain", or "lolo uila".

This is my favorite lesson so far! I learned so much. None of this was around when I was in China seven years ago, obviously. Oh, and I totally pronounce 这样子 as 酱紫!!! I love this thing. I'd never type that though. :-) Henning, RJBurki and Amber beat me to it! That's exactly what I'd say, too... Rich, I love your 小叮当picture!

Amber, you forgot the most important phrases from an American's perspective (maybe because you're Canadian): I'm going to sue you! Next time I see you will be in court! Let's see what Judge Judy will say about this! I don't want to go to the hospital, I want to go to my lawyer's office! (Okay, my attempt at humor)
