November 1, 2010 at 2:45 AMJust curious..... what exactly makes China so attractive to you?

November 1, 2010 at 2:39 AMHi Sebire, yeah you're right, there is not enough vocab in the Ellie lessons to progress far, so really there are only three alternatives ... (1) spend many hours to self tackle each Intermediate lesson (2) stay in Ellie territory for years rehashing the samo samo words (3) have had enough and leave.

November 1, 2010 at 2:21 AMAh, 提醒 - to caution would have some association to the topic of slippery ground. I do use nciku and mdbg a lot, but didn't think to look 提醒 up when the Supp Vocab mean it as to remind. Thanks.

October 31, 2010 at 1:10 PMHi Baba, yes transcripts are the only way now to bridge the gap to help Ellies move into Int lessons, And thanks to you, Tal, Zhen, Sebire and the others in the past who have put considerable time and effort to interpret what Jenny says in the Int lessons, at least there is a bridge to make that crossing. Of course, it is Cpod's role (if they see fit) to create their bridge which will lessen the burden of poddies crossing from Ele to Int, which now seems like a say, quadruple promotion from Grade 3 to Grade 7 moving up from Ele to Int. However, since you're already there on the other side, it is understandable that you're quite comfy with the way it is now.

October 31, 2010 at 11:54 AMhehe, good luck to you! I've done all the 300 Ele lessons and many Inter lessons and still find difficulty understanding Jenny's explanations in Chinese on grammar and sentence structures. But then, I'm not among the sharpest pencils in the box.

October 31, 2010 at 11:16 AMhehe, hope so, but most likely not! Seems to me, they love Baba the most, then the magnanimous ones (fans), and least so the people who clamour for change.

October 31, 2010 at 10:40 AMBaba, I wish that what you said about the supplementary vocab words is true. If so, it will certainly ease the difficulty poddies are finding when transitioning from Elementary lessons to Intermediate. Certainly, Cpod would want to make it as smooth and progressive as possible for poddies to advance from Ele to Inter, and by including the words Jenny uses in her Chinese dialogues in the Supplementary Vocab would certainly help a lot. How about you urging Cpod to narrow the learning gap between Ele and Inter? Seems to me you're one of their most favorite subscribers and they'll certainly lend a ear to you.

October 30, 2010 at 10:51 PMI wonder how words in Supplementary Vocabulary are being selected by Cpod. Every now and then there are words appearing in the Supplementary Vocabulary which have absolutely no association with the main vocabulary or the lesson topic. Can anyone enlighten me how "提醒 tíxǐng to remind" is closely or remotely associated with this lesson topic or the main vocab words?

November 1, 2010 at 10:23 PMHey Sebire, thanks for reminding me about the those Qing Wens.. I've re-subscribed for another year last week, so yup, just gotta dive in. The dialogue pdfs themselves are no problems,.... sure there are a lot more new words but that's just a matter of learning and remembering them. It is at times some of the bantering and the grammar explanations in Chinese which I cannot understand that would be taxing the patience.
