I've been a free member for over a year now. To me, their approach is that of a formal classroom, including a grammar section in each lesson. I particularly like their videos, especially this week's Episode 4 of Anthony's trip to Shannxi. I've never seen a 长途汽车 chángtúqìchē, a sleeper bus, till today. Will have to try it in my next trip to China

Hi Light,

According to my dictionary the difference between pingshi and pingchang is that pingshi is an adverb, whereas pingchang can function as either an adverb or an adjective.

平时usually (adv)

平常 (1) common (adj) ; (2) usually (adv)

As an adverb:

那你平时都不存钱吗？nà nǐ píngshí dōu bù cúnqián ma? So you usually don't save any money?

or

那你平常都不存钱吗？nà nǐ píngchang dōu bù cúnqián ma? (If this is incorrect, we would hear from Cpod.)

“My coffee as usual” would be平常 as an adjective

Comparing the two lessons I would say that the Traffic Jam lesson contains as much substance and vocab (probably more) than this lesson. Belated congrats to Jenny for landing the assignment of being a translator for the Terminator.

John, if the issue is simply a matter of sequencing, shouldn't Cpod start sequencing the lessons now so as to provide a path for smooth transition from ellie to intermediate? With 348 ellies and 307 intermediates now, surely there is enough material to create a guide for progressive learning for those poddies who wish for some structure. Since 2008, there have been repeated complains by new subscribers of the 'gap' between ellie and inter, the latest one just a month ago.
