August 2, 2008 at 9:14 AMWith reference to the spitting, do you mean people do not like to swallow saliva (in which case you would need to spit every few seconds) or do you mean people do not like to swallow phlegm? thanks.

June 13, 2008 at 4:34 PMI used QQ from the UK for a while quite happily, but then something Tencent shaped ate my PC. I have not dared downlaod the software since then. I now use a link sent by one of my Chinese friends. I can access my page others through this link. No download required. I use Google talk to talk to China every week, it's free and always clear and reliable.

February 5, 2008 at 4:56 PMI'm elly level but as a Taiji player I was drawn to this lesson. my laoshi (from Beijing) pronounces 太极 asTaiji but westeners usually say Tai chi. The name seems to have bcome misspelt from the old system t'ai chi. Not that it matters all that much but I'm now feeling confused as to how to refer to taiji in the west. Should I carry on saying taichi so I am understood?

August 8, 2008 at 9:29 PMI watched the opening ceremony on the big screen live in Derby (UK) and managed to practise my Elly level zhongwen with some of the crowd of Chinese who had gathered. I even made a new Chinese friend, so thank you Chinese pod for all the lessons so far.
