April 16, 2009 at 7:19 PMHa! Changye got me thinking, "rise and shine" is a phrase I use so often and yet I don't even think about it, let alone put it into practice. I'm the shining equivalent of a black hole in the morning. My sympathies go with the kid in this dialogue.

March 6, 2009 at 11:53 PMGood Lesson - and as far as format is concerned (in my humble opinion) if it ain't broken why fix it? Intermediates are good solid learning fuel. You have to work a bit on them but the effort required and the fact that everything isn't handed to you on a plate makes you hang onto the hard earned stuff that lodges in your brain.

March 1, 2009 at 10:13 PMRjberki hits the nail right on the head for me. Who owns Qing Wen these days? Are we paying the price for the success of Poems with Pete. Pete is busting a gut keeping this feature at a pretty impressive level, while Jenny is doing just about everything. In the meantime Qing Wen has been somewhat forgotten and fallen through the cracks.
Given that resources are finite and poetry looks like it's here to stay, the natural consequence might well be a 'diluted' QW? We have the forum to voice our opinions if we aren't satisfied.
Having said this, the current team is only 8 or so matches into the season so there may by time for them to bed in and deliver the goods.
The last thing we need though is a forced attempt to recreate the natural rapport of Amber and Clay. These things develop with time. If you listen to the early podcasts Ken and Jenny sound a bit stilted and tense;now they're fine.
Replacing Amber was always going to be a big ask and it will be a struggle to get the buzz back into QW, but if the content remains unsatisfactory we should start thinking about expressing our podcast priorities.

February 9, 2009 at 10:13 PMHi chocokittycat44
I think y'all wanna use 鸡 pronounced Ji(4) to say "chickan"
or maybe
肯德基 Ken(3) de(2) ji(4) to say Kentucky Fried "chickan"
Enjoy

December 20, 2008 at 2:18 PMI suspect the radical show is going to be like Marmite (or vegemite if you will) - you either love it or hate it.
Personally I think it's a great format and very amusing. We need something different in terms of presentation style as a memory aid.
True the content was not too taxing, but you have to start somewhere...
Keep it up John, maybe with a few tweaks you can get most people onboard!

thanks for teaching me 丑陋的英国佬 hopefully I'll recognise this when I next hear it on my travels! I'm sure I've missed the meaning of this phrase many times in the past.
Cheers
