April 12, 2010 at 5:11 AMoh man.
Hong Kong's 巧克力珍珠奶茶 [qiao ke li zhen zhu nai cha, chocolate bubble tea] makes me go crazy.
(and I like the fact that 珍珠 [zhēn zhū, pearl] sounds a bit like "Jenny Zhu")
But 小笼包[xiao long bao] in Yu Yuan Gardens... definitely my greatest foodie memory of Shanghai.

March 22, 2010 at 4:40 AMI find that being able to sing one or two songs in Chinese goes a long way to making friends.
My favourites are;
- Zhang Xuan - Bao Bei
- Jolin - Jin Tian Ni Yao Jia Gei Wo

March 3, 2010 at 3:28 AMThis is very useful.
Last time I was in Beijing we ordered some green tea (lǜ chá 绿茶) but it never arrived.
A similar lesson with things like;
- "my tea hasn't arrived"
- "I didn't order this, I ordered the ..."
could be useful.

February 24, 2010 at 4:55 PM《位》(wei4)[measure word for people]is very useful,thanks。
Beats saying ”yi ge ren” all the time。
Are there any other measure words for people?
I know 《口》(kou3)[measure word for family]。
eg。《五口家人》(wu3 kou3 jia1 ren2)[5 family members]

April 23, 2010 at 6:22 AMI believe Cantonese is planned for the summer.
I know it'll be very useful for me as I am living in Hong Kong at the moment.
(although maybe I'll move to Shanghai before the Cantonese lessons start)
