I just had a look a it.
The exams I talked about in Mexico are just around 4 hours each. Except for one university where I had to take like 6 different papers around 2 hours each. I think those were distributed in two or three days. Don't remember now. hehehe

It sounds for me like those are really smelly and mothers need to make a great effort to convince their own kids to take it. :)

In Mexico we don't have a "gaokao" either. But each university has its particular examinations.
I took four exams from four different Universities during my high school's last year. I've always wonder how gaokao's format is.
It is not only one day isn't?

我目前的中文名字的来源比较有意思。我第一次去北京之前考虑把我爷爷的名字的两个子的声音变成我的名字 我想把 “Loo Wong Su” 的 “Loo Wong” 写成罗王。到学校的时候跟老师说我选的是“罗王”这个名字。老师说：“不行，这俩字都是姓。稍等，我想一想。” 不一会儿老师问我：“要不咱们加一个点。这个字（玉）认识吗？” 我当时不知道是什么意思，不过老师快地让我看词典。看了"Jade"的时候感觉是女孩儿的名字，但是我还是同意的。
后来很多人告诉我是好听的，所以我都把“听起来像女孩儿的名字的想法”忘掉了。
以前来自我介绍的时候还喜欢说：我叫罗玉：罗成的罗， 玉米的玉。后来老师建议我：“还是要说：‘宝玉’ 的玉”
