Yes, 八分之一  is 1/8. 八分之一比赛 means the round before the quarterfinals. I asked the native English speakers in the office, and they said there is no equivalent in English. Do you just say '16 teams left'?

Hope that makes sense.

"ka3" is short for "xin4yong4ka3".

xin4yong4ka3 is the acutal name for credit card.

As a adjective,

辛苦 is associated with the body and mind, describing something like someone's hard work;

艰苦 is associated with conditions or environment, describing situations that are not so good.

For example: 

他工作很辛苦。     Tā gōngzuò hěn xīnkǔ.

那里的环境很艰苦。Nàli de huánjìng hěn jiānkǔ.
