Bazza - I tried the test! Here is the rank I got! :) Hopeless - Might as well toss the coin. Haha! So true! :) I did the test again without looking at the answers and I did marginally better but still got a lot of the same ones wrong I think. What parts of the face should I be looking at to tell the difference in race? I think there is always going to be a case of "I think she is the girl of my dreams" as compared with "Yes, she is quite nice". All the Chinese girls I see are all very beautiful but like with Western girls, there is always only a handful that stand out as truly beautiful and "perfect" to me. Having said that, there is not a great deal of difference between the "perfects" and the "quite nice(s)".. hehe :) I have always liked small, "cute" girls more than the typical tall and curvy Western girls. There are some small cute girls in Sydney who are not Asian but not many. So it would be natural for me to have a Chinese girl but I also wouldn't pass up on a small and cute Western girl either. :)

Mayonnaise on Fruit??? Yuck! :) I can understand putting yoghurt on Fruit though! I love yoghurt with honey or vanilla bean. I am not one for fruit salad though. I would much rather eat fruit with something else.. which is why I like to put yoghurt on it. Getting back to the lesson though: I really appreciate the linguistic explanations in this lesson. This is now on my list of "Best ChinesePOD Newbie Lessons". Also the cultural hints are great too, in regards to manners for saying that something is very good even when it isn't all that great. :) Thanks Ken, you're a real trooper. Since the lessons don't get listened to in order, it seems that Jenny never gets sick and Ken gets sick every few months! :) haha.. poor Ken.. :( You need to get yourself some ginger green tea. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Haha I already answered, correctly of course, the contest.. it was very easy to answer.. I am guessing the next one will be far from easy. I doubt very much that I was the first person to have answered correctly though so I won't be winning anything...but I am used to not winning hehe.. I did like the challenge though. :)

I do that all the time.. there are many, many Chinese "chickbabes" around Sydney.. usually working in the convenience stores. So I get to "observe" them a lot.. I try to listen to what is being said but I do not want to be too rude and make it too obvious that I am listening.. it's all for educational purposes of course, I would never think to listen to what other people are talking about if I understood the language I think.. it would be rude.. but because I am learning it is different I think. I find it difficult to tell if they are Chinese or not though.. I am not good enough at recognising the differences between the different Asian ancestries yet.. it's not until I overhear something in Mandarin that I know for sure.. :)

Also.. In western culture it would be odd for guy to have female room mate.. but in Chinese culture it is not so? I just feel I can relate much better to female Chinese girls than to most guys in my own culture.. I am not typical Aussie guy.. I don't like sport, I like books.. I don't like cars, I like art.. I don't like the beach, I like ducks.. :)

Auntie - Hehe.. it sounds very interesting to say the least. It makes me want to have a Chinese room mate even more! :) I love all that kind of thing.. I don't know why but the cultural differences is what I find so appealing about Chinese people.. I say "cute" but it's the only word I know of how to describe what I mean.. :)

I'm going to comment as I listen.. I really want a Chinese room mate too! :) When I finally buy my own 2 bedroom unit I will be getting an international student as a room mate I hope! And yes, it will be to help me learn Chinese and the culture too. I want a female room mate but I doubt that will happen since I am guy.. Chinese girls are so cute! And I have heard that Chinese guys are slobs! :) lol.. may be that is just what the Chinese girls think of them and it's a universal law that all girls think guys are slobs! :) lol.. But.. as I will not have any use for the second room, I think it would be a good idea to have someone in to help pay the mortgage. :) I remember when my cousin used to have Chinese girls over, they would always cook for us. :) Hey! I don't change my clothes everyday! :) May be I would fit in well! :) Unless they smell of course.. but yeh.. I can totally relate to the clothing thing. :) I can also relate to the dirty clothes thing.. I can sit on dirty seats outside and all that because that's what clothes are mainly for.. to separate me from the dirt.. :) I see lots and lots of Chinese girls, and I like them all! :) Well almost all of them.. I have been told that the girls from the south are the ones I like because their diet is rice based and it makes them smaller and cuter... :) No you are.. no.. you are.. no.. you are.. :P
