September 15, 2008 at 9:06 PMChen hongjie, 谢谢..
If no one is going to disagree with that, I'll go with that. Wish I could sing better than I can.. but may be Jenny with her great karaoke voice can redo it for me if I supply the backing track.. hehe.. :)
@John:
I'm slowly climbing back up to my rightful place again.. hehe.. :)

September 15, 2008 at 2:51 AMNah.. the only way I can do it is if I view PDFs which store the characters as images, or actual images.. but of course why would a website stores 50,000+ images when they can simply use an existing font that does all the work for them already..?
Yeh.. no way around it that I have found because even though there are input sites around you still can't read the character to see if it's teh correct one, and we all know there are numerous sounds that have different characters for the same sound.
It's annoying that I have to print everything out before I come to work or create PDFs of things and email them to myself at work..
For things like this though, by the time I get home, I have forgotten about the post that I wanted to read unless, by some luck, I accidentally come across it again.

September 15, 2008 at 12:53 AMI think someone else made the suggestion of going to a Chinese Kindergarden/primary school. May be you could get JohnP (who taught at Primary school I think) to go along and talk to the kids there? May be to a class of English learners and ask them about their experience learning it? :)

September 14, 2008 at 11:52 AM我姐家的买小狗了 wǒjiě jiā de mǎi xiǎogǒu le
Would be more accurate as her own dog didn't have puppies, she bought them but you have helped me to see the best way to say it at least. :)

September 14, 2008 at 10:56 AMHow do you say "news and features" mandarin? I see a few different possibilities for news: xīnwén, xiāoxi, and méitǐ. I am thinking it is xīnwén. And again a few options for features: tèxiě and tǐshì. I am thinking it would be tǐshì...
我们的有新闻和体式
wǒmen de yǒu xīnwén hé tǐshì

September 14, 2008 at 2:11 AMwhat is papapa...? Connie said that at the start.
So to analyse this sentence structure:
(Subject 1) meiyou (subject 2) (adjective) :: Subject 1 does "not have" as much (adjective) as Subject 2.
Lǔ kè de hányǔ méiyǒu Amber de hányǔ hǎo :: Luke's Chinese does not have as much "goodness" as Amber's.
Yes?
