October 20, 2009, 08:30 PMJust found this wonderful lesson on Chicago where I plan to go next year. I always enjoy reading the comments, but this time I'm a bit shocked that no CPOD staff has replied to questions (valid ones, I think) posted. What's going on?

Posted on: How Cold Is It in Winter?
January 04, 2017, 04:20 AMHi Learn, I noticed a question mark after you wrote "cold wave" so I hope the following might be helpful:
In English, we can say "heat wave" but never "cold wave" -- strange, huh? But we can say "cold snap" or "cold spell". And I don't know any other way to express a prolonged period of extreme heat except to say "heat wave".
Cheers,
