Amber, the character for "to carry" - lin(1) puzzles me. I can't find it in any dictionary, and it doesn't appear when I type 汉字。 Can you clarify this for me?

Hi Amber, Hope there is no time limit on comments and questions! I've been away - but back to stay now. My question is about the use of 可是 is this lesson. 爸爸说,我可是过来人。 后来,他说: wo de chu lian pengyou keshi xiao hua,. (sorry, suddenly can't type hanzi!) What does "ke shi" mean in these sentences? My understanding of "keshi" is that it means "but"; however, here, that doesn't make sense.
