Actually, from my experience, Christmas stockings are called 大袜子 (big socks) and could potentially be a huge source of embarrassment if used in a Chinglish sentence.

Another use of 深 : 年深日久 over a long period of time

There's a strange example #10 on Jukuu and its translation doesn't seem 100% right :

因为他俩之间的感情太年深日久,没有新鲜味儿,另外还有一些同性爱无关的事情,她也绝不可能原谅他。

Thank you for the link. You're right, in this article 超级潘金莲 is even translated as "super sluts" which sounds quite awful.
