Very interesting podcast. I like to hear all the different sounds and have someone to point the origin of the dialect (it rarely happened to me in real life).

I can't wait for the second part !

The french language, as we know it today, is more or less an artificial language created during the 17th century by the french elite for the central administration. Words, pronunciations, grammar and turns of phrase were selected (mostly by the royal court) for their elegance and their precision. At the time most of France was speaking in many kinds of dialects which were later eradicated by force until the middle of the 20th century.

In this regard, I see some similarities between french and chinese.

I guess it's a regional variation :

"A group of sheep is called a flock, herd or mob".

Thank you connie,

Actually, only with the sentence "每个月增加两百块", I had the feeling that the increase adds up every month.

Would it be the same to say 每个月两百块 or 每个月增加两百块 ?

For me, with the verb 增加, even in the context of 涨租, it sounds like the increase adds up every month : original rent + 200 + 200 + ...

Do all the rules also apply to 钱先生 (钱 as a name) ?

I feel uncomfortable to call this guy 小钱 (or 大钱).

For this podcast, the title should be "Chinese and American Perceptions of Animals" not "Chinese and Western Perceptions of Animals". Even in Europe, there're lots of "regional" differences.

I was just told that, in all its chinese advertisements, Nike (耐克) purposely "associates sport and money".

Apparently, you can equally use 运动 or 金钱 in the following campaigns :

用**改变一切

用**走遍世界

用**证明自己

用**改变生活

It doesn't seem that obvious to me as this campaigns also make sense with the word 爱情 !
