Changye, same here. :) Here's that other meaning of 后:

郭晶晶, 跳水皇后。

(Guo Jing Jing, diving empress.)

Examples of 乱:

They do use 乱说 = "talking nonsense" but I also looked up 废话 and it is also used so both correct I think. 废话 seems stronger.

CNN's article on China's bullet trains. The future: Beijing to Shanghai in 4 hours.

Wow this lesson was really useful, both the dialogue and the supplement. Is this correct? 谢谢

昨天我们坐从上海去南京的火车。

tvan, right now I am in China but when I was in Cali I was able to watch youku videos ok.  Here's the link to the video:

Internet-related things are a hit-or-miss thing here in 中国。 That includes CPod, which actually seems a heck of a lot slower now that I am here. This morning is absolutely crawling.

5 minute video of the 1984 parade (国庆三十五周年)。 Some Beijing students carried a sign that said 小平您好 (Hi there, Xiaoping!). That moment has enormous significance, they show it quite a bit on CCTV. I figure because the students were so thankful of his policies towards education and felt so close to him that they called by his first name. (?) Anyway, definitely a staple of Chinese culture.

bababardwan, no problem. The first CCTV link has the whole parade but if you scroll down you can click on links to individual segments but no summary.

CCTV's English website dedicated to the morning celebration, including all 2.5 hours of the whole thing.

http://www.cctv.com/english/special/60live/review/index.shtml

There were a lot of military troops and "equipment" on display, more than an hour long. Some of it we did enjoy.

The Grand Pageant section of the parade (click on the first link and scroll down) was really good but it was not highlighted as much as the military stuff.

Hi, great lesson guys, I skipped a level to listen to this one. 国庆节快乐!A couple of youku links.

Beginning. I think Hu 主席 alternatively says 同志们好 and 同志们 什么什么 (what is the second thing he says?). May we also know what is the name of those girls in the red dresses and tall white boots? Thank you.

One of the many gala performers during the evening celebration. One can read the lips of the girls at the beginning of this video: 中国万岁!(Long live China!)

烟火!I heard on CCTV that the spectacle was designed by the same person who did the 奥运会烟火 so it's a little better than the average fireworks display.
