September 5, 2011 at 3:12 AM"了" is a multifaceted particle. It can indicate a completed action, e.g. 我吃过饭了. It can also indicates something is about to happen (or in this case will not happen in the near future). But the key issue in 他真的不來了 is not 了, but "不“。This sentence does not mean "he really didn't come", because 没 is used to negate actions that happened in the past, not 不。"He really didn't come" should be "他真的没来." "了" is not used with "没".

September 3, 2011 at 3:21 PMAfter clicking on the "exercise" tab, you will see three settings on the top right hand: simplified, traditional and pinyin. Click to choose your preferred settings. BTW, if you choose pinyin, put in numbers to indicate tones, e.g. ni3hao3. Neutral tones should be marked 5.
