February 3, 2008 at 4:13 PMChand, Tone changes mostly only apply to words and collocations. When you have independent words in a sentence that don't collocate, such as 办法 我们, tone changes don't apply.

January 29, 2008 at 7:37 AMJohn and Ken are the kings of great mnemonic. 'Right' is so powerful and effective. Just like my struggle with English, grasping the right sound has never been easy. And we all have different personalised approach. So how do you fellow poddies learn tones? Do you memorize the tone of each individual character or do you take the 'rythmic' approach by concentrating on words?
