December 27, 2008 at 7:27 PMOf course, without the personalities of the various hosts, CPod would probably be just like the many other sites out there. I always sorry to see a popular host or other community member leave.
I wish Amber the best with whatever she decides to do next. It's unfortunate that the news came out as it did.

Posted on: Considering a Credit Card
September 14, 2008 at 5:19 PMI read in the newspaper today that the credit card (BankAmericard, now known as Visa) was introduced to America 50 years ago this month.
Some cards also offer discounts or rebates on purchases, airline miles, or other rewards. For those who pay their balances off every month, this is just an added bonus to a short term free loan. For those who carry a balance, this can become very expensive very fast.
Also, having a credit card, makes is possible to pay for a ChinesePod subscription. ;)

September 13, 2008 at 4:23 AMHuh? Amber is getting her eyes done? Noooo... Say it isn't so!
Oh, now that I've listened to the complete podcast, I stand corrected.
In all seriousness, about 10-12 years ago, my wife's sister went to Taiwan to have her eyes done. The next time I saw her, I honestly didn't notice the difference. If nobody told me what the did, I would have never known.

August 23, 2008 at 5:19 AMIn some respects I had a tougher time understanding a few of the English speakers ;)
Perhaps Dear Amber has her sights on Su-fei's gig.

July 28, 2008 at 1:45 PMstrillop, Having once been a similar situation, I can only offer this advice. Be patient. After much discussion including marriage prep classes, we were in complete agreement on what we considered superstitions and how we would work them out when they came up. However, when they came up, this changed to "well... although I don't believe in these superstitions, my parents do. So, I have to follow them."
