In some provinces, there are even competitions and the winner obtains the cellphone that he/she used to text in the competition (a new NOKIA model perhaps?). :) And about the texting and making babies simultaneously might be true. A cellphone is like an appendage in the body here. You'd die w/o it. :) BTW, what's the most bought cellphone brand in China?
