Goulniky, John, don't get me started about the thirst-quenching effect of a nice hot cup of coffee. ;) Lantian, but *warm* cola.

Goulniky, believe me, I know how to take this story which has been translated from a "Sun" article. And I definately know how "regular" autism looks like. Those who learn to speak (or to communicate) are blessed indeed. But it is nevertheless fun to read - especially because of its language value.

This is a great article: http://news.creaders.net/headline/newsViewer.php?nid=324352&id=759040&dcid=8 because: 1) It addresses the subject of this very lesson and therefore is plastered with manifold repetition opportunities 2) it is relatively easy to read (about default CPod Advanced) 3) it uses lots of expressions taught at CPod like 一见钟情 与众不同 不可思议 难如登天 4) It proves that there are people out there who can learn Mandarin within 4 month (given the right variation of Asperger autism) 5) It proves that French is at least 12 times as hard as Mandarin ;)

In the Expansion you find the sentence 她咬了我一口。 with the translation: "She took a bite out of me." Do I miss something here linguistically or is this a typical line from a zombie movie?

I guessed it, too, but this time I had help. lunetta deserves the price in each regard. Although you are missing either an outer-space or an IT-system-Fix... there will be more Madness ahead, so don't expect to be spared forever :)

Madeleine, great contribution! I'd seriously love to hear or read more about your experiences and how you witnessed the changes in China. Maybe drop a post once in a while.

Thanks for the Fix, very cool. Of course my Fix can be made accessible to anyone. Next time I win I will built a list with IT-vocab. :)

Hi cuty, that is a classic question - took me a while to figure out that one too :) Here an answer copy-pasted from an older post of mine: 会 (huì) expresses whether you are fundamentally able to do something, i.e. have you learned to do something, like "can you speak Chinese" or "can you cook". 能 (néng) expresses that you actually can do something in a given situation considering all given constraints - e.g. "Can you run around naked on the streets?". Of course you 会 but often the 能 is a problem. 可以 (kěyǐ) Are you allowed to do something? In the example above: You 会 but you do not 能 because the evil system says you do not 可以. ;)
