June 1, 2009 at 2:23 AM@alexyzye, exactly, "一座房子" 和 "一幢房子" ,a western house, maybe with a garden; “套” can be both used for houses and apartments, "一套房子","一套公寓", of course, the "房子" here is different from "一座房子" and "一幢房子", it's a house in a building.

May 31, 2009 at 11:08 AM@changye, And I'm embarrased to say that I didn't know that derivative meaning. It's my name........oh!
@zhenlijiang, thanks for your noticing! We put up two lesson specific questions every day in a certain level. Hoping that dear poddies would come to visit AS and practise. And we'll kindly feedback to you, maybe help to correct or share with you our own stories. Yes, elementary is the most active level so far and I do hope poddies could also stop by intermediate and upper! BTW I'm sure I'll have good news to share with you! (see you there)
@infusiastic, thinkbuddha, monica5, thanks!

May 31, 2009 at 9:09 AM@baishizi, in "我叫你闭嘴", "叫" means "让" to make somebody do something 例如:Fēng néng jiào chuán zǒu. The wind can make the ship go.

May 31, 2009 at 6:03 AM@orangina, tarcy, bodawei, calkins, bendidelaowai Thanks for your warm welcome and contribution to this community!
"沈" is my surname and "娅瑾" my name. "娅", originally means brother, here, my parents hope me all the best, to be cherished and loved. "瑾" is beautiful, flawless jade, I guess he wanted me to be elegant. (I think I failed my father on this) I'm not elegant, but I can cross my eyes very well! :)
Cheers!

May 31, 2009 at 3:52 AM@changye, I'm afraid there is not only “男光棍儿” but also many "女光棍儿”. They are all young and single. People are actually not poking fun at them, it seems "光棍儿" is one of the natural ways to describe single ones!
We have "光棍儿节", a festival for the single ones in China (Nov. 11th ), that is 11.11, indicating single single single and single! To be single, to be cool!

May 31, 2009 at 3:05 AM@stevemisch, "bù kèqi" and "bié kèqi" both mean, "you are welcome"! They can be used interchangeable! And there's no need to translate them literally, you'll get confused! :) Cheers!

May 27, 2009 at 8:21 AM@kesushan, to keep my tooth from the hammer, I'll be smart next time and wait for the hot 馕,BTW, it seems people use chopsticks or spoon to eat "手抓饭" here in Shanghai and my hometown Xi'an. I'm curious if people use their hands to eat this "抓饭" in Xinjiang.....

June 1, 2009 at 3:37 AM
@mystic, I miss Xi'an very much! Xi'an was the capital city of China in 13 dynasties. Wow! Why not come to Xi'an and see the real warriors? (don't forget to have a taste of local food...yummy!)
欢迎你来西安小虎!BTW, 恭喜你做婚礼的主持!I'm sure the wedding will bring you good luck!
