In English "talking about" and "talking to" take indirect objects (prepositions "about" and "to" are required).

It seems in Mandarin, "taking about" takes a direct object (there is no preposition), while "talking to" still takes an indirect object.

Are there other common Mandarin verbs which change in meaning like this depending on whether they take a direct or indirect object?

I'm afraid I can't hear a 'd' here.

I often confuse c with t, and this one sounds a little like a t. I think sometimes the quality of the recording makes it difficult to hear the extra aspiration associated with a 'c'.

I'm trying to tidy up my podcast transcript from a month ago. Would someone be able to give me suggestions/amendments for Jenny's words marked in red:

8:28 - 对。早就怎么怎么了。那这里早就想买了。就说＂他一直很想买这个包＂。Is it 就 ?

8:57 - 经常迟到。你就早就到了。Again, not sure if it is 就.

11:53 - 我觉得____。消费者就是consumers来说是骗人的。

12:13 - 我觉得不是。____买东西的时候我们都失去控制了。

12:22 - 不过我觉得每年就是______, 比如圣诞节啊,还有中国春节过年的时候大家还是很任意被骗的。是买点东西嘛。

12:42 - 在中国我想在美国___一样吧。

12:47 - 好，那今天 ____ 商场搞活动。

Thanks for all that help. It all makes sense in retrospect.

Can anyone help out with my first question? Its the only thing missing in my transcript.

Also, Tal introduced me to a new file-sharing site for those people living in China, but apparently it too is blocked now. Can anyone suggest another site?
