In these two examples, "的" is used to emphasize, it's optional.

after : 后hòu or 以后yǐhòu
You can use these words after any verb.
睡觉前 shuìjiào qián，睡觉以前 shuìjiào yǐqián
下班后 xiàbān hòu，下班以后 xiàbān yǐhòu

For example:
你现在在白学日文，因为你以后肯定用不到。
Nǐ xiànzài zài bái xué Rìwén, yīnwèi nǐ yǐhòu kěndìng yòng bùdào.
