May 19, 2010 at 2:10 AMAlso, I was wondering how you would say a café or teashop with a terrace.
You could call a patio/outdoor seating area a 露台 (lùtái) or you could just describe a 咖啡厅/咖啡馆 as having a place where you can 坐外面 (zuòwàimian)。

May 17, 2010 at 6:04 AMInteresting. From what I've read, a lot of pavilions worked the going green aspect of this year's expo into their architectural designs...

May 17, 2010 at 3:59 AMIt's a short series on Shanghainese. It will be followed by series on other dialects found in China. We asked for user feedback a few months back - maybe you could add your own opinion on dialects you'd like to hear. We're still in the planning phases and would love any thoughts/suggestions you have!
Also, your vulgar user name is in violation of our user agreement. Please change it ASAP or we will be forced to change it ourselves. Thanks for your understanding.

May 20, 2010 at 1:53 AMHeh. Know how that goes :) I love coffee too - thanks to Shanghai am now a Costa Coffee convert (it's a British company, but they don't have them where I'm from in the US)! The most indulgent (and delicious) drink on their menu? 焦糖味的加冰冷饮系列 [jiāotáng de jiā bīng lěngyǐn xìliè], Espresso Caramel Cream Frescato. At least I think that's how it's said in Chinese!
