Posted on: Why are You Studying Chinese?
June 2, 2009 at 9:22 AMMy original reason for learning Chinese was because of one hot Chinese girl...my (now ex-) girlfriend ;-)
Since then, I have fallen out of love with her and found myself hopelessly in love with the language, culture, and people. The most beautiful women in the world are just an added bonus!
P.S. Speaking of studying Chinese and having a girlfriend (boyfriend, husband, wife, mate, whatever)...if someone can tell me the secret to working, having a mate, kids, a social life, and studying Chinese, I'm all ears. I don't think I've had a life since I started learning Chinese.

May 31, 2009 at 8:29 AMZhenlijiang, I understood that :) My concern in the beginning was that Cpod wasn't correcting posts very often (if at all), which I thought defeated the whole purpose of the AS. So I am very happy to see this has improved considerably.
Just created a jabber account....will see how the IM goes with the AS...

May 31, 2009 at 8:09 AMZhenlijiang, much thanks for the detailed response :)
I had actually forgotten about the AS until Tarcy mentioned it above. I checked it out today and it does look more lively, and it's nice to see all the green corrections by Cpod staff (the lack of those in the beginning was my biggest concern).
The Instant Messaging feature also looks interesting. I may have to create a Jabber or Gtalk account. Cpod, any possibility of using the AS with other IM applications (MSN, yahoo, QQ, etc.)?

Pete, any idea when the next season of PWP will begin? TBD?
Is there any news on the beta version of the Activity Stream? Any insights into improvements and where it's headed?

May 31, 2009 at 3:18 AMCpod, thanks for another excellent and useful QW!
I completely agree with xiaophil, that having the parts of speech included with the vocabulary would be extremely useful, essential really.

五十步笑百步
wǔshí bù xiào bǎi bù
It doesn't really translate to English, but it's basically the same meaning.

May 28, 2009 at 12:45 AMRaygo, I had noticed that also. I've tried it numerous times, with no follow-up emails.
Then I went to my Profile page to see if I needed to subscribe to it. It looks like that's what we're supossed to do, but there are no links there to do it. Something that fell through the cracks I guess.
The "Forward private messages to email?" function hasn't worked for as long as I can remember.
