June 29, 2010 at 1:12 PMThe podcasters waste too much time on the Pangu stuff. I find creation mythologies boring to the extreme. To boot, I don't find them a good way to learn vocab because they tell such shaggy-dog stories that I find myself unable to supply the missing words from general knowledge.
All the same, "scholarly" lessons are on the whole a good way to build up vocab. What about a lesson about the (Chinese) space programme? We could learn such words as "Appollo mission" + the name of the planets.

June 13, 2010 at 12:48 PMThat's what I tought, but "to meet someone" is definitely more than to "catch sight of someone". I think this kind of imprecisions is a weak point of CP. Of course you can still learn Chinese in spite of those imprecisions, but they're like the errors in maths: they add up.

I liked this lesson because it brings useful vocab for listening to the News in Chinese. What about some advanced lesson on the WTO, the WHO etc. ?

June 10, 2010 at 6:46 AMIf "Mute English" has a Western equivalent, it should be "Blind Chinese", because many of us are likely to be able to speak and understand Chinese long before they can fluently read it.

July 21, 2010 at 1:18 PMYeah, I was thinking about something (which in CP will has to be a dialogue, apparently) with a scientific approach, along the lines of SBTG. With concepts of distance, size an temperature. I find quantitative notions hard to learn in Chinese.
