Three Questions:

1. If somebody asks, "Are you two roommates?", how do we say, "No, but we live on the same floor"?  "Floor" is one of the vocab words

2. Why do Chinese people use 吨? I thought only Americans use "tons". Is this word common?

3. For the expansion sentence, "服务员, 可以帮我们换一张桌子吗?“, would it be more colloquial to say 个 instead of 张 ?

Two questions:

1. Why can't we say 我们都体验过高考, instead of 我们都经历过高考 ?

2. How would we say "Deja vu is really weird, I've experienced it once before" ?

In the sentence, "你有哪些工作经历“, is there another word that we can use instead of 哪些, or is this the most natural word to use? Can we say 你有什么工作经历, and if so, does it have the same connotation ?

haha, I'm listening to this lesson right now, and I'm thinking: wow, Chinesepod has come a long long way since this lesson. I actually don't think this is a poor lesson at all; I just think that these old lessons are a huge contrast to the ones from the last two or three years.

One specific example is when Jenny said "girls are especially scared of movies like this...". I really doubt we're going to here Jenny say anything that sort of belittles women in any future lessons

Question:

When dogs go swimming, is their style of swimming called 狗刨式(gǒu páo shì) or 狗爬式(gǒupáshì) ?

Also, should we add 泳 or 游泳 of whichever one it is?

great topic. Perhaps there can be a Qingwen with the tone differences between mainlanders and Taiwanese people

i think the photo for this lesson is a bit too much. Sometimes marketing people use photos like this for their purposes, but I don't think Chinesepod has a need for this sort of thing. Just my opionion

I have a question about the word 饭店 in mainland China. In Taiwan, there is no question about what this word means; it can only mean "hotel" and nothing else.

My question is: if I mention the word 饭店 during a casual conversation to a Chinese person in mainland China, such as saying "我们在一个饭店认识了“ , what are most Chinese people going to think? Restaurant or hotel?

I remember that one time I was talking to a 10 year Chinese kid whom I was tutoring and said “比方说,你跟你妈妈去杭州旅游,然后你们去一个饭店,在那边睡觉,然后第二天..."  , and after I was done talking the kid said 在一个饭店睡觉?

haha, it always amuses me when I see that Chinese (language) confuses Chinese people in China
